Heidi J. Perman

In my job, I develop a strategy to engage more students and alumni in quality and meaningful career development activities to help clients achieve careers and lives of purpose.  I also develop partnerships across campus to integrate career services into the student experience. Overall, my main goal is to ensure that there are quality services available to students and alumni of all backgrounds. I am passionate about helping others to be successful and have a special passion for supporting diverse and first generation clients. I have a bachelor of science degree in  English Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master’s degree in educational psychology, with an emphasis in career counseling in higher education from the University of Minnesota.

During my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, gardening and reading. As a Minnesota native, I also enjoying cheering on the Minnesota Vikings during football season!

Favorite Quote/Poem:

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.

Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.

This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays.”

– Ralph Waldo Emerson
