Essential Functions
1. Facilities Operations & Management
- Work closely with the Building Manager to oversee building operations
- Assist in maintaining the appearance and general upkeep of the building
- Assist with room scheduling operations and event set-up & tear down
- Responsible for upholding safe and functional operations within the building
- Re-stock kitchen and office supplies, keeping an accurate inventory of all building supplies
- Assist with other operations and facility project management as needed
2. Front Desk Administration
- Create an inclusive, hospitable, and welcoming environment for everyone
- Provide outstanding customer service by addressing questions and complaints
- Direct guests to resources on a wide range of University of Denver related topics and departments
- Deliver mail and intake packages for Ruffatto Hall
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage and work indecently on projects.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills; must be able to communicate with diplomacy and tact, both in person, in writing, and on the telephone
- Excellent team work skills and ability to work with diverse individuals, including faculty, staff and students, as well as outside vendors, to resolve facilities issues
- Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs
Required Qualifications
- Current DU undergraduate or graduate student enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year, located in the Denver metro-area
Preferred Qualifications
- Active involvement in campus community and activities
- Ability to speak a second or multiple languages
Working Environment
- Work is performed in a standard office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Ability to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 30 pounds.
Compensation and Time Commitment
This position is eligible for a federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office.
Students will be paid $18.50/hr with the opportunity for yearly increases, dependent on performance. This position requires 10 hours per week for fall, winter, and spring quarters with flexibility in scheduling. Some evening/weekend hours required.
In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
