Essential Functions
- Greet and assist visitors to main office
- Answer basic advising inquiries (e.g., consistent with the sign-post function, letting students know how to make an appointment with a faculty member) or information questions about the programs
- Monitor department email and voicemail accounts
- Coordinate MA recruiting and admissions with the graduate director
- Send emails of announcements and information to department faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students
- Coordinate event planning, e.g., order refreshments, create and monitor publicity materials, maintain RSVP lists where needed, check set-up of space, keep track of information for speakers and guests, coordinate these functions with the staff handling finances and with the student employee
- Advertise courses as needed
- Assist with hiring adjunct faculty, which can include: drafting forms for job postings; monitoring number and status of applications; assisting search committees with setting up and keeping track of interviews; supporting hiring process for successful candidates
- Work on department news communications, e.g., newsletter, Facebook page
- Other duties as assigned by the department chair to support department functions

Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working in higher education
Preferred qualifications
- 3-5 years of work on support staff in office setting
- Comfortable posting to Facebook
Working Environment
- Standard office environment
- Unexpected interruptions often occur, and stress level is often moderate
- Noise level is quiet to moderate
Physical Activities
- Set up items like tables for events
- Transport refreshments to event sites
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
Compensation & Benefits
- Student Support IV: $25.00/hour
- Hours are up to 20 hours per week, to be set for the academic term in consultation with the department chair so that the employee will be in the office at regular times.
- Some evening hours are required.
- In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
