Spencer Penrose was a Philidelphia entrepreneur who moved to Colorado Springs in 1892. Over the ensuing decades he made his fortune through investments in gold and copper in Cripple, Creek Colorado and Utah. With an eye for excellence and the skill of a promoter Penrose and his wife Julie set to work establishing Colorado Springs, and the entire state as a world class destination.
