Learn the ins and outs of government hiring at the local, state, and federal levels, and discover how the Govern For America Fellowship can jumpstart your career in public service. Fellows are placed in two-year, full-time, paid positions and provided with the community, mentorship, and training needed to thrive as public service leaders. Whether you’re interested in general policy, health policy, environmental policy, or data analysis, this session will give you the tools to successfully navigate government hiring and secure a role that makes an impact. Our Program

Our Fellowship is a two-year program that supports and activates emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds by providing training, mentorship, and community, and placing them in full-time, paid government jobs to implement the skills learned. Full-time work. Full-time salaries. Your career starts at Govern For America.

Where

Fellows are placed all over the country in cities with high need for entry-level talent. Locations are selected on an as-needed basis within national regions. Current placements include Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland and Michigan.

Qualifications:

To be considered for the 2025 Fellowship Cohort, applicants must:

  • Be authorized to work in the United States for 2 years (GFA does not provide sponsorship for Fellows).
  • Must have completed an undergraduate degree or be on track to earn an undergraduate degree by June 2025.
  • Be available to begin the Fellowship in late June 2025 to attend Summer Institute in person from June 24th through July 2nd.
  • Demonstrate a passion for public service and a desire to ignite your career in the field.
  • Be willing to serve in cities and states across the country of identified high need.
