Articulating the Value of Your Student Employment Experience

Student employment is real employment! In your student employment position, you are using many of the transferable skills employers will be looking for upon graduation. The trick is explaining this to them. In this training, we’ll hear from recruiters at key Denver employers about how you can impress hiring managers with your student employment experience.

Heidi Cuthbertson joined Ball Aerospace in January 2019, and currently leads the campus relations strategy, university recruiting and summer intern program for the company. Prior to her role at Ball, Heidi worked at the University of California Riverside as the Associate Director of the Graduate Career Development Center in the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management for five years.

Tilyian Phannenstiel served as a Peace Corps Community Economic Development Volunteer in Costa Rica from 2016 to 2018. During her service, she worked closely with 15-member women’s group and also implemented a two-week women’s leadership camp, Camp GLOW, for 21 female high school students. Tilyian is originally from Wisconsin and earned her bachelor’s from University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she served in an AmeriCorps Jumpstart early education program for four years.
