Position Title – Student Research Assistant

Essential Duties
· This work-study position will assist the Butler Institute for Families at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work, www.socialwork.du.edu/butler. The Butler team has a demonstrated history of collaboration with university, public and private partners to conduct research that yields valuable knowledge, supports innovation, and builds capacity and organizational effectiveness in human services.
· Primary tasks include: Quantitative data entry using programs such as MS Word, Excel, and SPSS; analyzing and coding qualitative data in Atlas.ti; quality assurance checks; creating online surveys using Qualtrics software; assist with creating presentations; conducting literature reviews; and other administrative tasks such as proofreading, note-taking, transcription, and making phone calls depending on program needs.
Qualifications: A graduate level student enrolled for academic year 2026-27
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability:
An aptitude for research and program evaluation, attention to detail, experience with MS Word and Excel, Teams, experience with Qualtrics, experience with statistical software packages, such as SPSS preferred (but not required; training will be provided), ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and promptly verbally and in writing.
Work Environment
· This position is fully remote with communication primarily taking place via Microsoft Teams and email. Teams will be an essential mode of communication for this position.
· Our work-study positions typically consist of approximately 10 hour/week, although we strive to be flexible to accommodate the student’s academic schedule.
· Applicants are required to have a federal work study award.
Hours: 5 to 20 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $19.50/hour to $23.00/hour
Time Frame: Fall – Spring (Academic Year)
Supervision: There are multiple positions available for school year 25-26. Each student will have their own individual supervisor.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
