Fisher Early Learning Center’s Kindergarten Camp is designed for kids ages 4-6 who have graduated from Fisher Early Learning Center and will enter kindergarten in the fall of 2025. Camp is a great way for children to experience their transition out of Fisher and into kindergarten. Camp provides them with a fun atmosphere to meet new friends who were in different Pre-K classes at Fisher, as well as practice some skills associated with going to kindergarten (carrying a backpack, bringing a lunch, etc.) Kindergarten camp is full of fun daily activities including:
- Walks around the DU campus
- Picnic lunches
- Field games at the Ritchie Center
- “Water Days”
- In-house visits from outside providers
Essential Functions
- Oversee organization and efficiency of daily camp operations
- Collaborate with Fisher Administration to operate camp
- Plan daily schedule
- Develop lesson plans with weekly themes
- Supervise staff of approximately 2 assistant counselors
- Responsible for approximately 40-50 children ages 5-6
- Coordinate and exercise fun and engaging daily activities
- Plan field trips to various locations around Denver
- Communicate daily with parents and caregivers
- Communicate and coordinate with DU resources for camp activities
- Plan and coordinate the preparation week (June 16-20); provide onboarding process to Assistant counselors.

Required Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree-seeking program or higher
- CPR and First Aid Certified (Fisher will provide the training if needed)
- Medication Administration Certified (Fisher will provide the training if needed)
- Willingness to work with children in an inclusive environment
- Completing Mandatory Reporter online training
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience working with preschoolers or prekindergartners in an early childhood group setting
- Knowledge and experience working with children who have special needs
Working Environment
- Preschool classroom environment. Frequent outdoor excursions expected. Unexpected interruptions occur often; stress level is moderate to high; Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Must be able to push, pull or lift 50 lbs.
Work Schedule
- The first week (June 16-20, except for 6/19) is a preparation week.
- The schedule for this week is flexible and consists of up to 20 hours.
- The camp is from June 23 to August 8, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-3:30 pm.
- We prefer to hire someone who can work through all seven weeks to maintain consistency for the children; however, days off with advance notice can be accommodated.
- There is no camp on June 19 and July 4.
