Essential Functions
Teaching Assistant
- Hold office hours
- The teaching assistant is responsible for holding specified office hours per week.
- Assist students with materials for course.
- The teaching assistant will answer questions during office hours and in person about the course to ensure that they understand the introductory level accounting topics.
Research Assistant
- Collect, code, and/or analyze data.
- With clear instruction from their faculty member, TAs will assist in data collection and analysis for use in research.
- Locate and/or summarize relevant journal articles.
- Meet regularly with faculty in the office or over Zoom.
- Communicate with the faculty member at least once per week to check in on progress and address questions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of specific business analytics topics such as: SQL Server, Excel VBA, and Python Programming
- Ability to maintain confidentiality expectations with students, faculty, and staff.
- Strong communication skills.
- The teaching assistant student must be able to communicate effectively and correctly with students, faculty, and staff members.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency; that is applied to answering emails and grading work.
- Flexibility in school schedule.
- Office hours will need to be worked out to accommodate the class’s schedules and the teaching assistant’s personal schedule.
- Reasoning skills.
Required Qualifications
- Teaching Assistant for INFO 3140: SQL Lite and Visio Lucid charts, Successful mastery of INFO 3140
- Teaching Assistant Python/VBA for INFO 3100/3440: Python, Successful mastery of INFO 3100/4120
- Teaching Assistant for INFO 4240: Visual Studio, SQL Server, Successful mastery of INFO 4240 or INFO 3140
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Working Environment
- Standard office environment
- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high
- Noise level is quiet to moderate
Physical Activities
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20lbs
Compensation and Benefits
- This position does not require a work-study award.
- Students will be paid $18.81/hr with the opportunity for yearly increases, dependent on performance.
- In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
