Teaching Assistants for BUS3000. Will assist with writing and presentations.
The following list is representative of the duties and responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant, but this list is not all-inclusive, nor is every Teaching Assistant responsible for all of the below.
Essential Functions
- Evaluates student performance, including grading assignments. Provides feedback on completed assignments to help students improve their work. Meets with the course instructor and assists in determining the grading criteria. Comments and grades are provided in the online learning management system (LMS).
- Maintains course LMS site, including but not limited to posting assignments, editing and posting notes and/or slide shows for student access, and entering grades as assigned.
- Maintains weekly office hours to communicate in person with students as needed. May also attend some class sessions.
- Receives and promptly responds to student inquiries regarding grades, assignments, attendance, and course material.
- Plans, schedules, and facilitates practice sessions for presentations and writing assignments.
- Meets regularly with the instructor to discuss assignments and classroom issues.
- Provides workshops in or outside of class on presentation skills or writing skills.
- Attends classes as needed to observe presentations and workshops and provide student feedback.
- Periodically delivers classroom lectures or designs online content as assigned by the course instructor.
- Demonstrates respect for and cooperation with the course instructor inside and outside of the classroom.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the course instructor and course lead.
- Writing TA will grade writing assignments and meet with students in person and via Zoom. This position does not require attendance at class sessions.
- Presentation TA will attend classes and provide help with public speaking, as well as provide feedback on presentations. Some class attendance is required.

- Must have excellent presentation skills

- Desire to help students learn writing concepts and to improve their writing
Required Qualifications
- Must have taken BUS3000 and earned 94% or better
- Should be a junior/third-year, senior/fourth-year, or graduate student.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have taken BUS3000 and earned 94% or better
- Should be a junior/third-year, senior/fourth-year undergraduate student.
Working Environment
- Writing TAs can work remotely.
- Presentation TAs will be in the classroom helping with presentation skills. The environment will be the classroom as experienced when the applicant took the course.
- Presentation TAs will also have office hours that may be in a classroom or via Zoom.
Physical Activities
- All TAs will need the ability to work in front of a computer to complete work
- Presentation TAs will be required to come to class and engage in presentation skills such as using gestures, speaking, and standing.
Compensation and Benefits
- Students will be paid $19.29/hr.
- This position does not require a work-study award.
- In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
