Essential Functions
- Clean, breakdown and store laboratory equipment, facilities and supplies after completion of laboratory exercises, as required.
- Operate laboratory equipment.
- Practice safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
- Assist graduates students, faculty and staff with research and testing.
- Perform related work as required or assigned.

- Ability to communicate with other lab members about expectations

- Must be willing and able to complete tasks on-campus and work in a lab setting
Required Qualifications
- Current DU undergraduate or graduate student enrolled for the 2026-2027 academic year.
- This position is a work-study job only, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ideally a Biology or Ecology major.
- Interest in ecology and entomology
- Interest in pursuing research as a possible career path
- Prior lab experience working with gregarious caterpillars, such as fall webworm
Working Environment
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
- Working within the Murphy lab.

- Moving Supplies
- Working outdoors in varying conditions to help with fieldwork
Compensation and Benefits
- Students will be paid $19.29-20.00/hr with the opportunity for yearly increases, dependent on performance.
- In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per weeks.
