Essential Functions
- Primary duties will to be assist with basic laboratory maintenance (cleaning, stocking, and autoclaving as needed) as well as preparing basic stock solutions (buffers and other reagents).
- As time permits, opportunities will be available to assist with a variety of routine experiments using basic genetic and molecular techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of general biology and chemistry.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Can work as a team and are able to follow directions.
Required Qualifications
- Current DU undergraduate or graduate student enrolled for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- This position is a work-study job, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Biology or Biochemistry major preferred.
- Must be available for the academic year.
Working Environment
- Standard lab environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
- Clean & maintain lab equipment.
Compensation & Benefits
- This position is eligible for a federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office.
- Students will be paid $18.81-20.00/hr with the opportunity for yearly increases, dependent on performance.
- In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
