The Alumni Engagement Student Assistant is primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service and managing front-line communications via phone and email communication; connecting alumni with resources, events, and Career and Professional Development to create “One DU”; utilizing resources and problem solving to disseminate accurate information or direct individuals to other departments when applicable; providing assistance to Alumni Engagement staff on special projects and events; and supporting business functions and daily operations including greeting guests, data entry, processing alumni requests, and other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to quality. Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal, written, and organizational skills. An understanding attitude of customer service; ability to be very flexible and adapt to change. Must be able to manage time well, particularly while managing competing priorities. Willingness to take initiative, keep a positive attitude, and maintain a professional demeanor. Adept at problem-solving, critical thinking, and using judgment in situations that that require sensitivity and tact.
Minimum Qualifications: University of Denver student, Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Asana
Preferred Qualifications: Professional administrative experience in an office setting or a similar setting, Interest in learning more about a career in Higher Education, Interest in customer service.
Supervision & Training
Student Assistants will receive extensive and ongoing training on multiple facets of alumni engagement and programming, through an on-boarding orientation prior to the start of the academic year and regular meetings. You will receive 1:1 training with your supervisor to focus on professional development and discuss career goals.
Compensation and Time Commitment
This position is eligible for a federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office, or paid a competitive hourly rate if the employee is not work-study eligible. Students will be paid $15 – 18/hour. This position requires 10-15 hours per week for fall, winter, and spring quarters with flexibility in scheduling.
In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
