Marketing and Development Intern
Organization: TechNation Careers
Location: Hybrid, Denver, Colorado (the team is in-office on Wednesdays at the Posner Center for International Development, but this can be flexible for the intern), the rest of the time is remote.
Internship Term: September 15, 2026–June 15, 2027
Hours: Approximately 16 hours per week
Compensation: $2,000 stipend paid upon successful completion of the internship term
Extension Opportunity: The internship may be extended based on performance, organizational
needs, and available funding.
About TechNation Careers
TechNation Careers is a Denver-based nonprofit organization that partners with work-authorized
refugees, asylees, and immigrant professionals to help them realize their career potential in
Colorado’s technology sector. Through career coaching, technical training, employer
partnerships, and job placement services, TechNation helps New Americans build meaningful
careers while connecting Colorado businesses with qualified talent.
Position Overview
TechNation Careers is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Marketing and Development
Intern to support the organization’s fundraising, communications, and community engagement
efforts.
This internship is a strong opportunity for a University of Denver student interested in nonprofit
management, fundraising, event planning, marketing, communications, or community
development. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting a growing nonprofit
organization and will work closely with TechNation’s Executive Director and staff.
Primary Responsibilities
Fundraising Gala and Event Support
• Help coordinate TechNation Careers’ annual fundraising gala in April 2027.
• Support gala committee management, including meeting coordination, communication,
task tracking, and follow-up.
• Maintain event timelines, task lists, sponsorship lists, and planning documents.
• Assist with identifying and securing event sponsors, auction items, and in-kind donations.
• Support coordination of catering, venue, guest, and other event needs.
• Help prepare event materials and assist with additional event-planning responsibilities.
• Support post-event follow-up, including donor correspondence, thank-you messages, and
gift acknowledgment.
Donor Communication and Development
• Help maintain and update TechNation’s donor database.
• Assist with donor communication, acknowledgment, and stewardship.
• Organize donor information and support the tracking of donations, sponsorships, and
outreach.
• Help draft short donor emails, event invitations, thank-you messages, and fundraising
communications.
Marketing and Communications
• Help manage TechNation’s weekly social media presence.
• Draft, schedule, and publish social media posts highlighting programs, candidates,
employer partners, events, and organizational accomplishments.
• Assist with creating simple graphics and other digital content.
• Develop TechNation’s monthly email newsletter using Constant Contact.
• Write and format short, engaging newsletter stories and organizational updates.
• Help maintain a consistent and professional organizational voice across communications.
Administrative Support
• Assist with document organization, research, scheduling, data entry, and other
administrative responsibilities.
• Support special projects and organizational priorities as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and professional development
opportunities when appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
• Current University of Denver student.
• Interest in nonprofit management, fundraising, marketing, communications, event
planning, or community engagement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
• Comfortable working independently and asking questions when clarification is needed.
• Experience using social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
• Familiarity with Constant Contact, Canva, donor databases, or event-planning tools is
helpful but not required.
• Interest in supporting refugees, immigrants, and other New Americans as they pursue
professional careers in Colorado.
What the Intern Will Gain

• Mentorship and professional networking opportunities within Denver’s nonprofit and
technology communities.
Schedule and Work Environment
The intern will work approximately 16 hours per week from September 15, 2026, through June
15, 2027. The schedule will be coordinated around the student’s academic responsibilities and
TechNation’s organizational needs. Some in-person work and attendance at events may be
required, particularly during the weeks leading up to the annual fundraising gala.
The internship may be extended beyond June 15 based on the intern’s performance,
organizational needs, and available funding.
