Position: Communications & Social Media Intern
Reports to: Executive Director. & Development Director
Type of Position: Part time
Time Commitment: 15 hrs./week.
Salary Range: Volunteer – no remuneration.
The Rocky Mountain Welcome Center (RMWC) is an immigrant led nonprofit organization fostering intercultural learning, understanding, and integration among immigrants, refugees, and Colorado residents through programs and activities that develop supportive multicultural communities. Serving over 2,000 people a year, RMWC offers programs that holistically support individuals and families as they integrate in their new communities.
Position Overview: We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Communications & Social Media Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about social media, community engagement, and promoting our mission online. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in social media management, content creation, and digital marketing while making a meaningful contribution to our cause.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a social media strategy to increase brand awareness and engagement across platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Create, curate, and use Meta Business Suite to schedule engaging content that aligns with our mission and goals, including posts, images, videos, and stories.
- Monitor and respond to social media interactions, fostering a positive and active community.
- Track and analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies, providing regular reports to the team.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate social media efforts with broader marketing and outreach initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure our social media presence remains innovative and effective.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of major social media platforms and their respective best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinking and the ability to generate engaging content ideas.
- Basic graphic design skills (experience with tools like Canva, Adobe Spark, or similar is a plus).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for our mission and a desire to make a positive impact.
Time Commitment:
- Approximately 15 hours per week, with flexibility depending on your schedule and our needs.
- Minimum commitment of 6 months to ensure continuity and impact.
