REVEL OVERVIEW:
REVEL, which stands for Real Experiences Vital for Enhancing Life, is a non-profit organization that works with teens (14+) and adults with autism and related disorders. We support and guide individuals to develop a sense of autonomy and achieve their goals with appropriate levels of independence. At REVEL, we believe all teens and adults have the ability to connect, work, learn and explore new interests together. Our various programs provide social settings where people — with and without disabilities — can be themselves, try new things, learn, make friends and have fun!
Overview of Mentoring Program
Mentors are the heart of our community. REVEL’s comprehensive mentor program encourages teens and young adults to foster mutually beneficial, meaningful friendships with individuals with autism and related disorders while learning valuable, applicable life skills.
REVEL’s mentor program consists of Volunteer Mentors, a Mentor Internship, and the opportunity to become a Lead Mentor. Each mentor opportunity offers a platform to promote socialization, develop friendships, and ultimately defeat the potential social isolation and depression faced by many individuals on the autism spectrum.
As a mentor, you will be paired with other mentors and autism professionals while we lead groups, encourage participation, have fun and explore new interests in 1:1 and small group settings.
MENTORS:
REVEL mentors are energetic, positive role models who help provide guidance and a fun time for our REVELers. Mentors are the heart of our community by inspiring the group to try new adventures and build meaningful relationships.
