In today’s competitive job market, your resume is more than a formality, it’s your first impression, your personal brand, and often your main opportunity to stand out. A strong resume doesn’t just list your experiences; it tells a clear, compelling story about your qualifications and potential.
In collaboration with the Writing Center, this workshop will help you rethink your resume from the perspective of a recruiter. You’ll learn how to structure your content strategically, write with impact, and format for clarity and professionalism. We’ll also tackle common challenges like employment gaps and career changes. Whether you’re job searching now or planning ahead, this session will give you the tools to create a resume that opens doors.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to:
- See your resume through a recruiter’s perspective
- Organize your resume sections to showcase your experience
- Follow best practices for resume formatting (length, margins, style, etc.)
- Write strong resume content that goes beyond your job duties
- Address specific scenarios like layoffs, promotions, or career gaps
Whether you’re pivoting, progressing, or just getting started, this session will help you take control of your professional narrative. Come ready to rethink your resume and leave with tools to land that interview!
