Finding Your Purpose - The "Ikigai"

In this workshop, you will learn about the Japanese term “Ikigai” which means the sense of purpose. Utilizing four main components of life, you will be able to discover more about your ikigai which can clarify your direction in your career and personal life.

After the activity, you will be able to gain some skills necessary to put your ikigai into actual steps to jumpstart the life that is right for you. A question portion would be at the end of the session as well.

About the Presenter:

Jharen Rivera is an academic life coach specializing in helping students and postgrads on finding their dream career path. With her Psychology and Education undergraduate degrees from the University of California – Irvine, she has helped many clients break barriers such as procrastination, motivation, self-discipline, career direction, time management, and more. Although she has worked in many industries such as marketing, communications, cybersecurity, healthcare, and food, she developed a passion for working with students in a more personal way.  In early 2021, she was certified as a Life Coach through Coach Training Alliance and started her Masters in Counseling at Northwestern University. After working with students for many years as an educator in public schools, a mentor, and a socio-emotional learning practitioner, Jharen utilizes therapeutic activities and reflection to allow a more holistic approach to academic and career coaching.
