Your third year at DU is an exciting time, especially if you are studying abroad through the Charrington Global Scholars initiative. Your junior year is also a key time to put a strong foundation in place for job searching or applying to graduate school in your senior year.
Study Abroad
If you plan to study abroad during your Junior year, check in with your career advisor before you go. Many large companies recruit for prestigious summer internships during the fall quarter. You will want to ensure you have a plan in place to apply for these programs while abroad. This is particularly true for students interested in summer internships with big accounting and consulting firms.
Upon your return from study abroad, we also encourage you to meet with your career advisor to get tips on effectively integrating your study abroad experience on your resume.
Internships & Research
During your third year at DU you should plan to complete Career Achievement Milestone 3 by completing a high-quality internship or research experience. Visit PCO to search internship opportunities and learn about upcoming career fairs that can help you land a position. Check out UCAN Intern for national postings and the Undergraduate Research Center for tips on gaining research experience.
Grad School
Does the career you are considering require additional education? Now is a great time to learn more – the bulk of your application preparation and planning will happen the summer after your junior year. Meet with your career advisor and check out our Graduate & Professional School page to ensure you have all of the information you need to get started.
