2nd Year

Congratulations on successfully navigating your first year at DU. As a second-year student, you might be clarifying your interests and starting to think more about your career plans as well as the steps needed to achieve those goals.

Career Exploration
If you haven’t yet declared a major, you will need to do so by the time you have earned 75 credits. If you are feeling confused and questioning your plans, an appointment with your career advisor can help. Also check out the Career Exploration section of our site for tips, resources and events specifically intended for those that are exploring options.

Internships & Experience
Did you know that 50% of employers expect you to have 2 or more internships or related experiences by graduation? Your second year is the time to start building your resume to be marketable for your future goals. Internships are available year-round in the Denver area. Visit PCO to search internship opportunities and learn about upcoming career fairs that can help you land a position. Want to do an internship in another part of the country? Check out UCAN Intern for national postings.

Build Your Connections
Your second year at DU is a great time to begin building a strong professional network. As a second-year student, you should plan to complete Career Achievement Milestone 2 by attending a networking event or meeting with a professional in your field of interest to gain tips or advice. Check out our events page for a listing of upcoming networking events and check out our networking page for additional tips on making the most of these interactions.
