CPD Presents Faculty Career Champion “Award of Excellence” to Distinguished Faculty Mentors

On Friday, September 26, DU Career & Professional Development (CPD) hosted the 9th annual Faculty Career Champions (FCC) breakfast ceremony, where 20 DU faculty members were presented with the “Award of Excellence” for their outstanding mentorship and professional development of students.

The annual event honored faculty who have gone above and beyond in mentoring and supporting students’ career and professional development—an essential part of DU’s commitment to prepare students for careers and lives of purpose and to succeed and lead in an AI-transformed workforce.

University leadership, including Provost Elizabeth Loboa PhD, delivered remarks, commending all the nominees for their outstanding work.

This year, 143 faculty members were nominated by 183 students, reflecting the strong commitment of DU faculty to student success and career readiness. Since the program’s inception in 2017, 894 faculty have been recognized for their impact on students’ academic and professional journeys. 

This year’s Award of Excellence recipients include:

  • Kareem El Damanhoury and Dheepa Sundaram – College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences 
  • Hillary Hamann and Bethany Waddington – College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics 
  • Trent Bunnell and Wendy Charles – College of Professional Studies 
  • Mac Clouse and KED Davisson – Daniels College of Business 
  • Brian Gearity and Lynett Henderson Metzger – Graduate School of Professional Psychology 
  • Daniel Brisson and Shenhaye Ferguson – Graduate School of Social Work 
  • Claude d’Estree and Keith Gehring – Josef Korbel School of Global & Public Affairs 
  • Betsy Leonard and Michele Tyson – Morgridge College of Education 
  • Rachel Horenstein and Breigh Roszelle – Ritchie School of Engineering & Computer Science 
  • Bernard Chao and Sabrina Strand – Sturm College of Law
