Announcing the 2018 Faculty Career Champions

On Friday, September 14, Career & Professional Development announced the 2018 Faculty Career Champion Award winners. This is a student nominated award that focuses on faculty members who have made an impact on students’ career and professional development path.  We received over 200 unique nominees with many faculty receiving multiple nominations.  We are very appreciative of all the extra effort and career advice DU faculty give to our students on a daily basis!  As a thank you, all faculty that were nominated by students were honored at a breakfast with Provost Jeremy Haefner.  Each faculty member received a letter with the quotes from the students that nominated them.

In reading the quotes from students, it was very difficult for the selection committee to make a decision on award winners for this year. Based on the number and quality of the student nominations, two Faculty Career Champions were chosen and were recognized at the event.  JP Tremblay was awarded the Undergraduate Faculty Career Champion and Dr. Jessica Reinhardt was awarded the Graduate Faculty Career Champion.

JP Tremblay is an Associate Teaching Professor at the Reiman School of Finance in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver where he teaches investment management, securities analysis and valuation, portfolio management and risk analytics.  Previously, JP was Sr. Director of Product Development at S&P Global where he managed a portfolio of financial data products and analytical software platforms for the global institutional investment management market. He was also co-portfolio manager of a long/short equity hedge fund and private wealth management firm based in Denver, CO.

JP is an active member of the Colorado financial community. He is a CFA Charterholder and former Board member of the Colorado CFA Society. He is a founding member and active board member of the Colorado QWAFAFEW chapter. JP holds an MBA in International Management from the International University of the Americas and received his B.A. in Finance and Marketing from Laval University, Quebec, Canada. His research interests are in the areas of equity valuation, portfolio construction, and quantitative equity strategy with a focus on ESG investing. He is co-director of the Marsico Investment Center and recipient of the Blake Family Faculty Fellowship.

JP student nominations showed his commitment to adding real world experiences into the classroom and generous availability to help all of his students succeed.  One student stated “JP’s classes are applicable to the real world. He is very good at structuring our classes so that we not only learn about finance but, learn about finance in real-time. His courses have set me up to succeed in my career post grad. JP cares about the success of his students and is gracious with his time and resources in order to help students better understand course material in addition to offering assistance and guidance in the job search.”

Dr. Reinhardt student nominations all stated how dedicated she was to her students.  One of the students stated “Dr. Reinhardt always goes above and beyond for her students. She is a dedicated professional who teaches graduate classes, runs the campus clinic, leads a vertical research team, collaborates with other departments and community organizations, and the list goes on. Dr. Reinhardt is also a career champion. She has brought in DU professionals to train students preparing for interviews, organized an internship & practicum fair, connects students with opportunities related to our field, and is non-stop advocating for the profession. Her students often joke about how there is no possible way she sleeps because she is always answering emails and goes above and beyond in every interaction. There is no doubt that without her support and guidance I would not be as prepared for my future. I know my fellow colleagues would echo these same sentiments! She is irreplaceable!!!”

Career & Professional Development would like to congratulate all of the faculty nominees for their tireless work and effort to guide students in their career development journeys.  Nominations by students for the 2018-19 Faculty Career Champion award will begin in the Spring Quarter.  Contact Career & Professional Development for more information, career@du.edu.
